For a very special corporate holiday dinner we used two shades of purple on the table. The darker color as the base cloth and the lighter contrasting color for the napkin.
Playing off the colors with the decor in various shades of purple and silver really make the colors on the table pop.
Maine Wedding TipCreate unique centerpieces using local farmer’s market finds.
![]() We created these beautiful centerpieces to highlight appetizers on our passing trays. We went to the Brunswick Farmer’s market and purchased produce that caught our eye as well as some beautiful fresh herbs. The black eyed susan’s came from our garden. These are super easy and are sure to be a big hit at any event.
To create your own centerpieces here are some tips from Belle Fete:
- purchase any produce that are visually interesting and works with your color scheme. Make sure that they have a flat bottom so it can stand on it’s own. Or flatten it yourself.
- using a pairing knife or florists knife cut off the top and create a hollowed space deep enough to hold water
- cut herbs, flowers and arrange
Here is an amazing idea for anyone looking to create a show stopping display piece for their wedding or special event.
We created a structure that allows us to hang curtains and chandeliers. It is portable and can be used for both inside and outside events. Our client wanted to create an exotic Moroccan feel for her birthday party. We chose to use golds, purples and warm pinks. The top was covered in gold fabric. We hung a Moroccan lantern in the center and used shades of golds on the stationary appetizer display.
The wonderful thing about this structure is that is can used for any type of event. For a country style wedding we could hang cheese cloth tied with wild flowers and hang Ball canning jars filled with candles. For a more modern theme, crisp clean fabrics can be used along with a mod light. Here is an elegant way to create a beautiful fall look for your wedding or special event. We used branches with pretty fall foliage, apples, roses and simple tea lights.
To create your own centerpiece you will need the following:
Simply cut out the apple core and rub with lemon juice to avoid yellowing. Put the rose in the apple and insert the tea light. What really made the centerpiece were the color of the linens. We chose a base cloth of gold highlighted by chocolate brown and eggplant purple satin.

Here is a super fun and easy idea that you can incorporate into type of party with a garden theme. We incorporated a children’s umbrella with a brightly colored watering can filled with flower covered pinwheels.
We put cut floral foam to fit into the watering can to anchor the pinwheels and covered the foam with moss.
This idea can be used for place card settings or to identify food as we did for this party.
